My sister-in-law is getting married this September, so of course a girls’ weekend is in order! Yes, you can also call it a bachlorette party, but I think that term has more of a ‘wild’ connotation. This was more of an amazing trip with future in-laws, current in-laws, family, moms, and friends. And I mean, Napa is such a great destination regardless of the reason you go. The last time I went on a girls’ trip here, I found out I was pregnant with Marielle 5 days before the flight. Needless to say, I was the designated driver. But for this trip, I was ready to have a fun time and taste all the fruits of the region. I mean, when in Rome! Here are a few details of the trip…..
THURSDAY
^^ One piece suit // Crawler Earrings {too funny, a girl in the next cabana over had on the exact same earrings!} // Sunscreen
We arrived on Thursday morning at SFO. Most of the crew just Ubered to the hotel. Since I and Jeff’s cousin Katrina had early flights on Sunday morning and felt a little nervous finding a ride at 5 AM, we rented a car. It took a little over an hour to get out to Napa and we met with the rest of the group at a place called Fume. It was nice to have a light lunch and enjoy my official first glass of Napa wine. Then off to the hotel! Our group stayed at the Senza, which was soooo beautiful. Seriously, highly consider this boutique hotel if you make it out there. Great rooms, amazing breakfast in the morning, and a pool, which we immediately went to. {P.S., I wore the same suits and few more that you can check out in my Florida post}.
After spending time at the pool, we cleaned up for dinner and went to Brix. The property boosts this gorgeous views and we were there right around sunset to really see it in it’s glory.
FRIDAY
^^ Maxi Dress from Rent the Runway // Baublebar Beaded Tassel Earrings in Turquoise // Grecian Sandals // Beautycounter Lipstick in 9 to 5// Sunglasses {no longer available but similar style here}
In the morning, we had some coffee and breakfast before a mini- group workout session, led by my sister in law. Nothing like a jog around a vineyard with poppies, lavender, citrus trees and enormous cactus plants popping up around you. For lunch, I was so excited that we planned to eat at the Restaurant at L’Auberge du Soleil. Seriously, the views were amazing and the food was light and lovely. I had the short rib and it was just the perfect size and one of my favorite meals from the trip.
Later, we went to a friend of the family, Paul Maroon, who years ago left Scranton to open a vineyard. Not a bad move! At home, we often drink Maroon wines and recommend the Cabernets. He hosted our group and we caught up with him on his beautiful grounds. After our second day of pure bliss in Napa, we headed back to the hotel to rest and relax. That evening, we had dinner plans at Don Giovanni, which was walking distance from the Senza.
I should also add that I tried my first month of Rent the Runway Unlimited for this girls’ weekend. I received 4 items, of which 3 made it to the trip. The red maxi dress I wore this day was a major hit and perfect for our day in Napa. And I loved the turquoise earrings that gave the perfect pop of color.
SATURDAY
^^ Lilly Pulitzer Jumpsuit {also found here and to rent here} // Espadrilles {this style is also cute and under $100} // Hoop Earrings // Sunglasses {similar here }
Vineyard hopping day! We reserved a driver service to take us around to a few wineries. Our first stop was at Hayne Vineyard, which specializes in Zinfandels. It was so interesting to learn about the property and how they harvest grapes in an Old World Tradition. After lunch we visited the Davies vineyard, whose family also makes Schramberg sparkling wine, {it’s been served at the White House since the 1970’s}. Our group sat outside in the perfect California weather and toasted the bride-to-be! The last stop on our tour was at Peju – another absolutely beautiful property.
For my wine tasting day, I wore this fun Lilly Pulitzer jumpsuit. It was super flattering and comfortable. I will say that is was really long! I’m 5’7 and had to wear heels to ensure I didn’t trip. I went with a summery espadrille to keep me from sinking on the vineyard.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Seriously, this was one of the best trips I had ever been on. It all felt so magical. While the scenery, food, wine all played into making this a fabulous trip, the group of women I went with really made all the difference. If you’re girl squad is strong, this is the perfect place to celebrate. Time to get that girls’ weekend on the calendar!
