Don’t you just love an annual fall tradition? Every year, we try to make it out to Mt. Vernon, one of the many perks of living in the Nation’s Capitol. Last year, we had the most beautiful autumn day {check out the post here}. A few years back we attended the Horse + Hound event and this year I knew kids would love it more now that they’re older. Plus, it’s a great excuse to rock a blazer and go full on equestrian style!
The grounds are so impressive at Mt Vernon. It was so fun watching all the pups and horses trot together. These days, they are just reenacting a traditional fox hunt. So, no animals were actually hurt, just celebrated.
I ordered this blazer from Shopbop through Amazon. If I’m being honest, I wasn’t really sure about it. I don’t have many occasions to wear a blazer but it’s such a classic wardrobe staple that I knew it would come in handy.
Well, I decided to bring it along with me on a photo shoot with Meghan Cavanaugh and she took the most amazing photos of me in this blazer that my mind was totally made up! When it was time to figure out an outfit for Horse + Hounds, I knew I had the perfect look!
Also keeping with tradition are these black riding boots from Coach. I can’t even remember how long ago I bought them, but they are in all my Mt. Vernon pictures. They are no longer available but these riding boots and these ones are pretty similar.
If you head to an office, this blazer would a great add on to a black dress or even jeans and heels.
How would you rock this blazer?
