This week, I’m sharing a few tips on how to incorporate facial oils into your skincare routine.
I’ll admit, I was a little weary of these products at first. I felt I have been programmed to avoid oil on my face. But, just as I learned that our bodies need fat to function, the same is true for our skin!
How to Add Facial Oil to Your Skincare Routine
Step 1: Understand your skin concerns.
If you’ve avoided facial oils because you’re prone to breakouts try a balancing oil like this one or this one. For fine lines and wrinkles, I use both this oil and this one. And if you have normal skin but need some brightening, here’s the one for you.
Step 2: When to apply
If you’re a beginner, I would recommend at night. You can either add a drop to your current moisturizer/ night cream. Or as a last step to seal in all the goodness of your skincare routine. The facial oil will repair any damage while you sleep and you’ll wake up to your softest skin!
On that note, I sometimes get asked about the oil coming off on your pillow. I typically apply at least 15 minutes before it’s lights out for me. I use this silk pillow and have never had any issues.
Sometimes, when I check in the mirror before the kids’ pick up, it looks like my face could use its own “pick up”. I just pat a small amount around my face for a little glow. Try this before a long flight or drive as well!
Secret tip: I like to use a little oil in a hot bath. Yes, you can buy a separate body oil, but why not multi-task with a product you already own!
Good To Know: If you’re ready to dip your toe in oil but want drug store pricing, this Burt’s Bees Facial oil is $10 on Amazon.
I’m so glad I incorporated facial oils into my routine. Now, I’m hooked!
If you’re goals in 2020 are to improve your skin, give these a try.
