I thought about writing this post a while back when I was searching for paint colors to update our new home. I love getting inspiration from blogs and pinterest, but oftentimes, I found a room I liked but could not figure out what paint color was used! After my sister in law asked the interior paint colors we used throughout the house, I figured this post could be helpful for anyone thinking of updating or refreshing their home this year.
In my goals post, I mentioned that I am working with Heather DiSabella Design for a few rooms in my house. We’re off to a great start, but so many details and key pieces still need to arrive. I hope to share the finished rooms in the upcoming months, so stay tuned!
In the meantime, I thought it would be fun to share before and after pictures of the paint colors we had when we moved in and the new interior paint colors we chose. {P.S., you’ll notice that the design is not complete and in the early stages. These are mainly to show the paint!}.

To start, I new I wanted light, bright, and airy for the walls. As you can see, the original walls were painted bold primary colors of yellow, red and blue. I felt the lighter palette was a nice complement to the high ceilings to make the space feel open. I still wanted color, but would rather save it for furniture and accent pieces.

After: Kids Rooms
Interior Paint Colors: Kids Bedrooms
- Sam’s Room: Benjamin Moore Stonington Gray – HC-170
- Marielle’s Room: Benjamin Moore Gentle Butterfly – 2173-70
- Hallway Walls: Benjamin Moore Gray Owl – 2137-60
For the kids rooms, these were already pretty neutral, but I wanted to make their rooms feel more their own.
Before: Bathroom Vanity Cabinets
After: Bathroom Vanity Cabinets
Interior Paint Colors: Bathroom Cabinets
- Kids Bathroom Cabinets: Benjamin Moore Hale Navy – HC-154
- Master Bathroom Cabinets: Benjamin Moore Kendall Charcoal – HC-166
- Master Bathroom Walls: Benjamin Moore Silver Satin – OC-26
I did choose deeper and darker shades in the bathrooms. The cabinets were the original wood and not painted. These colors look so pretty against the lighter, airy wall colors.
And there you have it! We absolutely love the new feel of the house. Even the previous owner stopped by for some beauty products and liked what we did. While this post is all about the paint, I’m going to link some of the items you see in the photos, if you’re interested. You can also check out more Home posts.
I hope you stay along on this home update journey with me! The best way is to follow me on Instagram or subscribe to my newsletter.
