How to Create an Exercise Routine
If you’re new to exercise or you’re looking to change up your current routine, it can be helpful to have a plan. Here are some tips on how to create an exercise routine that works for you:
- Set realistic goals. Don’t try to do too much too soon. Start with small goals, such as working out for 30 minutes three times a week. As you get stronger and fitter, you can gradually increase the duration and intensity of your workouts.
- Choose activities that you enjoy. If you don’t enjoy your workouts, you’re less likely to stick with them. There are many different types of exercise, so find something that you find fun and challenging.
- Make exercise a part of your daily routine. Schedule time for exercise in your day, just like you would any other important appointment. This will help you to make it a habit.
- Find a workout buddy. Exercising with a friend or family member can help you stay motivated and accountable.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help. If you’re not sure where to start, talk to a personal trainer or fitness instructor. They can help you create a safe and effective workout routine.
Here are some additional tips for creating an exercise routine:
- Warm up before you start exercising and cool down afterwards. This will help to prevent injuries.
- Listen to your body and don’t push yourself too hard. If you’re feeling pain, stop and rest.
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water before, during, and after exercise.
- Eat a healthy diet to fuel your workouts and recovery.
- Get enough sleep so that your body can repair and rebuild muscle tissue.
Creating an exercise routine can be a challenge, but it’s worth it. Exercise has many benefits for your physical and mental health. It can help you lose weight, reduce your risk of chronic diseases, improve your mood, and boost your energy levels. So what are you waiting for? Start creating your exercise routine today!
My Exercise Routine
Before becoming a fitness instructor, my exercise was all over the place. Not that there is anything wrong with that, sometimes it’s a lot of fun to try new things. However, I realized I personally needed the structure and routine to see results. Now my weekly schedule looks like this:
Monday: Prep class for the week
Tuesday: Teach! I do my 45 minute barre sculpt class twice
Wednesday: Rest or film online workouts
Thursday: Rest or film online workouts
Friday: Teach my 45 minute barre sculpt class
Saturday: Rest
Sunday: Rest
It may seem like I have a lot of rest days, but usually on those days I’m still walking my dog 3-4x per day and I walk my kids to schools and activities around the neighborhood.
