Healthy smoothie kids will love, smoothies for toddlers and kids, healthy snacks for kidsAnyone else have kids that just want to snack all day? With life at home all day, it seems like one of them is asking for a bowl of goldfish or pretzels on the hour. While things aren’t as structured as school, I don’t just want to feed them junk all day long. The one thing we can all can agree on is this healthy smoothie.

I make a few smoothies throughout the week, but this one is my kids’ favorite. It’s great for breakfast or even an afternoon snack. It has all the great ingredients for their growing minds and bodies with the sweetness they crave.

Banana Peanut Butter Oat Smoothie Ingredients

Bananas

We always have this energy packed fruit in the house. Did you know that bananas are packed with fiber as well? While my kids like them on the slightly green side,  I like to use up the brown and spotty ones that may go to waste.

Peanut Butter

For the peanut butter, I typically use creamy but sometimes throw in this yummy Salty Crunch Peanut Butter Flax  + Chia Seed one from Trader Joe’s. You can really throw in whatever nut butter you like.

Oats

I just throw a few of gluten free whole grains for some added health benefits. The don’t even know they’re in there!

Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk

For my liquid, I use unsweetened vanilla almond milk. The kids and I like the vanilla taste, but I go for the unsweetened one so I don’t add extra sugar.

Honey

Just a touch of natural sweetness to make this healthy smoothie extra yummy!!

My Favorite Way to Serve Smoothies to Kids

We try to do our part for the environment while also  making things easy for our family. I like to serve these healthy smoothies in a clear glass with a straw for the kids. For the glass, I’ve up-cycled our favorite jam jars. I found that when I put in a dark cup it’s harder to realize any leftover liquid on the bottom.

I would love to serve these smoothies with a reusable straw, but I find again, the remains inside the tube. {We have these silicone reusable straws and use all the time for water and juice}. Instead, I have a few of these pretty paper straws.

While homeschooling all day may not be easy, I hope this healthy smoothie makes your day!

If you make this smoothie, tag me on Instagram! I would love to see and share.
