Ah, this pic brings back so many great memories from our trip to Santorini. Since the summer, I’ve been on a reading tear so thought I would catch you all up on some of the books I’ve finished.
I’m still keeping things light with my selections. Nothing too serious as I’m mainly reading right before bed. Here are the latest books I’ve read since my last book review post.
01. A Stranger On the Beach by Michelle Campbell
As you can see, this is first book I read on the trip and it gets my recommendation. The book reminded me of the show, the Affair, which truth be told I only watched one season of. There is a murder and affair and two points of views on what happened – but who is telling the truth? Also, this doesn’t happen often, but Jeff finished his book early in the trip and wanted something else to read and picked this up when I was through. It is not the type of book he reads, but quickly got into it. It was then so fun discussing the characters and asking each other what we would do in thier situations.
02. The Island by Elin Hildebrand
You’ll see that three of my books are by Elin Hildebrand, who has been dubbed the queen of the summer beach read. I will agree with that statement. My sister in law reads all Elin’s books and gave me her finished ones. This is actually the first time I’ve ever read her novels! I probably sound like I’ve been living in a hole for years since her books are so popular, but I was never really interested. For my first book, I will say that it was really enjoyable and I was excited to find out what was happening next. This one is about two generations of sisters spending a week in Tuckernuck after drifting apart and a few tragic events. It was a fun read but you could pass and life would go on.
03. Here’s to Us by Elin Hildebrand
By the second Elin book, you kinda know the drill. Glimpses of life on Nantucket, tension between rich and poor, old flames and discovering true love. Again, entertaining and great for a beach read or mindless reading before bed, but the story lines start to blend.
04. The Perfect Couple by Elin Hildebrand
By now you may be thinking, if she doesn’t really care for these books, why is there a third Elin Hildebrand title on this post? That’s a very good question. Here’s the answer. I was in Target and in between books. I was scanning the selection, but nothing was catching my interest. Then I saw this with a 20% off sticker and well went for it. I knew I was going to like it and wouldn’t have to think too much. That said, I’m taking a break from these novels for a while. I will also say, that this one is a little different than the others as there is a murder mystery element to it. So of all the ones I read, I would say this was the best.
05. The Last Guest House by Megan Miranda
I didn’t do this on purpose, but it seemed like all my books in this stream included a murder and tension between rich outsiders and locals of popular summer destinations {Hamptons, Nantucket}. This book was about a death and family secrets in Maine. I love trying to guess who the culprit in with these murder mysteries and always think I have it figured it. I was seriously shocked when it was revealed! Recommend this one too!
OK, friends. That’s it for now. I’m just wrapping up Where the Crawdad’s Sing and have a few more books on thier way from Amazon. Can’t wait to share with you! Let me know what you’re reading below.
