11 Beautycounter Products You Can Buy at Sephora
What is Beautycounter?
Beautycounter is a clean beauty brand that sells makeup, skincare, body products including sunscreen, men’s grooming, and kid’s products.
The company was started by now CEO, Gregg Renfrew. As a mom, she realized that she was being careful about what her family was eating and putting in their bodies, but had an AH-HA moment when she started questioning the products they were putting on their bodies.
Beautycounter is committed to heath and safety standards. There is the NEVER LIST that outlines the 1,800 ingredients the brand will never formulate with. This goes beyond the standards of the FDA and the 1,400 ingredients banned in the European Union. The company prides itself on transparency through its supply chain and even released a mini-documentary on Mica, a common beauty ingredient.
So let’s get to one of the most commonly asked questions about Beautycounter. Is it a pyramid scheme? Let’s unwrap that.
Yes, Beautycounter is an MLM. While this business model doesn’t sit well with many folks, it’s not illegal. Consultants get between a 25-35% commission on the products they sell. Also, when a new consultant signs up, he or she joins a team and a down line is formed. There is no requirement to recruit, but additional bonuses are given. This does not come at the expense of anyone on the team.
This structure was chosen by Gregg as a way to really build upon the advocacy of the brand’s ethos. By telling this story person to person, it really promotes the education of why safe and clean consumer products are necessary.
Beautycounter x Sephora
So why is Beautycounter selling at Sephora now? Great question! The brand’s mission is to “Get Clean Products in the Hands of Everyone”. Limiting that by only selling through consultants would be short sited. That’s why Beautycounter has done collaborations in the past with Target and even has retail stores in NYC and Denver.
Additionally, Sephora is committed to clean beauty. As a European owned company {LVMH}, they are not a stranger to stricter ingredient standards. Sephora began their Clean at Sephora category a few years ago and carry brands like Biossance, ILIA and Farmacy. While their requirements for meeting a “clean” label are less than Beautycounter’s, it’s a good start and continues to evolve.
This Beautycounter x Sephora partnership is a great way for new consumers to learn about and try products from the leaders in clean beauty. But remember, it’s only a limited time and limited offering. Only 11 of the best sellers will be available here in the US {10 in Canada} and will end in October. If you fall in love with a product, you’ll need to replenish through a consultant.
OK! Let’s dive into the Sephora product offering, shall we?! I’ll also give you the option to shop on the Beautycounter site as well if you like. The biggest advantage is the first time client offer this month. New clients and new email addresses will get 20% off their first order! I would be honored to be your consultant!
