My sister in law shared this amazing account with me and it inspired me to make my epic cheese board for our 40th birthday party.

Making a cheese board is my thing. I love putting them together, gathering all the trappings, and figuring out the best combinations. However, I’ve never created one on this scale. We were expecting over 80 people and this was the main appetizer. So it had to be bigger than I was used to making.

I saw on Cheese By Numbers a few examples of long tables filled to the brim with all the cheesy goodies. We have a counter space in our kitchen that was the perfect spot to create one of these so I started planning.

One of the most interesting things CBN taught me is the cured meat rivers and using overflows to optimize the space. My prior thinking was to keep all the items on the serving trays. But purchasing a long brown paper runner gave me more real estate.

Speaking of cured meat rivers, I decided to add my own personal twist. Since we were celebrating our 40th, I made a 4 and 0 out of Calabrese using tooth picks to hold the shape.  Then I used prosciutto as my river.

It was a little crazy making my epic cheese board masterpiece, but I love how it turned out. I wish had more pictures but so many people showed up early and started to enjoy!
