How do you get outside in the winter? ❄️ 🎿

We were so fortunate to visit friends at their place in Vermont over the break. Nothing like catching up, getting outside on a winter day, and not having reliable internet to focus on human connection.

Skiing is still pretty new for me. I love being active and my heart almost bursts when we all ski together. Marielle spends a lot of lift chat figuring out a way to get Tucker involved too. But my pace is slow, steady, and peaceful. I always try to challenge myself and no matter what happens- falls, fear – I do that one run in my comfort zone to leave on a high note.

Why Getting Outside in the Winter is Good For You

Getting outside, even in the cold, makes us healthier. It allows us to

▫️get mindful. Notice the snowy trees + feel the cold air fill your lungs.

▫️get your vitamin D. Feel some sun in your face to boost your immunity.

▫️get uplifted. Boost your mood + energy levels.

And yes, that daily outdoor walk will check all those points.

As we head deeper into winter, find those moments to connect with nature, with people, with your mind and body. And notice how you feel.

Plus, you never know what you’ll discover.  On the car ride up to Vermont, we encountered a flock of sheep in the middle of the road that completely surrounded the car.  The kids and I were cracking up and Tucker was so confused.

I know that as a mom, I try to balance the two need I have to make me feel great.  Time for myself.  And time with my kids.  Sometimes it’s a fun family adventure discovering new things together, other times it’s listening to your favorite podcast on a walk to Whole Foods.

After that winter self care feel really great.  Like grabbing a glass of your favorite wine and hitting up the hot tub!
