About this time, so many of us are over winter. The cold, the dry skin, the entryway cluttered with gloves, scarves, hats and the winter accessories. It’s no wonder we’re making summer wishlists. Or is that just me?

While I can’t help with all the winter complaints, I can offer some advice on keeping your skin healthy during this time. Here are a few ways to beat those winter blues for the next few weeks.

How to Get Healthy Skin In the Winter

Drink Lots of Water

Water helps your skin stay hydrated and aids in digestion.   I have a big water bottle that I keep around me during the day. I also like to add collagen to my glass once a day.  If you don’t like drinking cold water, store some seltzers in your pantry and drink at room temperature.

Keep Moisturizing Lotions Handy

When it comes to dry hands, vitamin enriched hand lotions are key. You have to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! So keep those hand and body lotions close by. I have a hand cream next to my hand wash, lotion next to my bed, one in my purse and a jar on my tub. Grabbing the travel size ones are a great way to always have one where you need it!

Use Skincare with Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the body. It’s main goal is to retain water. Therefore, getting more from your skincare routine will boost the hydration levels in your skin. Slather on a hyaluronic rich night cream and add a super powered serum to get your skin looking and feeling healthy.

Eat Healthy Foods

It’s harder to find those fresh foods so abundant in the summer during these months. But we still need antioxidants to keep skin healthy.  Try adding foods like sweet potatoes, salmon, nuts, leafy greens and olive oil to your meals.

Add Some Oil to Your Routine

Maybe you’ve shied away from applying oil in the past, but now when the air is super dry and you’re indoors, why not give it a try! Check out this post on how to add oil to your skincare routine. And don’t forget the rest of your body.

Don’t Forget the SPF

You make not see the sun, but it’s there. Beating down harmful rays that will age and damage your skin. Also, if you’re around lots of snow or plan to go skiing, the suns rays are reflecting off all that white.  So make sure to apply an SPF to your face either in a specific sun protective product or a tinted moisturizer with SPF.

One more winter skin tip…

This one won’t make you healthy per se, but it will give you a glowy pick me up!  Add a bronzer, self tanner or shimmer oil to fake a sun kissed look.  You may not be heading to a tropical destination any time soon, but a little shimmer will go a long way.  I shared a few of my favorites in this post.

We’ll friends, I hope this post has helped you finds some ways to get healthy skin in the winter.

xoxo,

Kellie
